Freaky Monday

Had a very bad experience last night. There I was in the middle of my usual night routine watching TV and the kids were playing around me etc. I get to the boardroom scene in The Apprentice and I hear BUMP, Charlie smacked his head on the bottom of the coffee table. He gets up, it's bleeding, he's crying etc. No biggie, the kids have banged themselves a milliontimes already.

I put a cold washrag on it and take it off and HOLY SHIT the kid has a one inch long gash and about half an inch deep on his left eyebrow. VERY DEEP. So we bundled everyone up and we trundled off through a friggen SNOW STORM to the EMERGENCY ROOM at
nine pm at night.

What a horror show. Luckily they have a pediatric emergency ward otherwise he'd have to wait behind the strokes, gunshot wounds, heart attacks etc. They took him in the room and put a cotton ball with numbing fluid on it they taped it down with this crappy paper tape that came off after about fifteen minutes. So when they're finally ready to give him his stitches I had been struggling with him for almost an hour. He didnt' want to stay in the hospital room and kept trying to leave. I'm sure his tantrums bumped him ahead of about six other kids.

But at that point I think the doctor realized to just get it overwith and get him out of there.

OMG. This was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. They put his arms behind him with a pill case and swaddled him up in sheets, I had to hold his legs down and one nurse was holding his head in this vise death grip. The doctor had to shoot novocaine directly into the wound and I'm not sure how much that so called numbing fluid on the cotton ball worked. Then he had to put about fifteen stitches in, deep stitches and the surface stitches with Charlie screaming and thrashing the whole time. I'm bawling and trying to talk to him, not sure it was doing any good.

God that was difficult. Very upsetting to hear your own child scream in pain like that. Poor kid.

After it was over etc he fell asleep so hard if you sat him in a chair he would fall over. LOL.

We got home about midnight and went to sleep one thirty am. Naturally called in a Personal Day today. Luckily didn't have any big training. I'm also off Friday to relax before my Chicago trip.

Charlie took a BIG nap today and Johnny came in my bed about seven am and crashed till about nine thirty am. We were ALL tired today. But Charlie is FINE, doesn't even have any affects from the trauma last night. Which is amazing cause Johhny was traumatized for a week after his lead test.

I'm glad.

Oh my, that does sound traumatic. I am glad he's okay. I wonder if it was more traumatic for you than him.
